Every season, every week, and especially every Navy vs Army game, the Midshipmen strive to be the GOAT (greatest of all time) on and off the field. They also want to play with the greatest footballs in the game, which is exactly what the team has accomplished with the help of Big Game USA.
On Dec. 8, the Naval Academy football team will complete its “Fear the Goat” themed look with this 2018 specially-made official game football, which features the legendary mascot stamped in team colors on the top two panels near its navy blue laces.
From head to toe to touchdowns, Navy will be honoring its 125-year-old mascot every time the team hits the field.
The first goat made its debut in 1893 during a Navy-Army matchup as a gift to the Midshipmen from the USS New York. After Navy defeated Army, the goat became a member of the team. There have been other mascots throughout the years, but none stood longer, taller and stronger than the goat. It was given the name “Bill” after a commander had a pet goat of the same name in the early 1900s.
Now, “Bill the Goat” is being recognized in this rivalry game that ends the college football regular season every year. While we know you can’t wait to see the game, you don’t have to wait to order your Team Issue Navy “Bill the Goat” official game ball from Big Game USA.
